34-year-old Bellevue Man Faces 10 Year Sentence for Child Porn

In August of this year, 34-year-old Trevor Locke pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to receive child pornography in U.S. District Court. Officials claimed that Locke had a “substantial collection” of child pornographic material.

Locke allegedly attempted to buy DVDs from an online website and have them shipped to his residence, according to the indictment. News reports state that one of the titles in the DVDs Locke attempted to buy was “Kidnapped and Raped Little Girl.” Locke submitted to a search of his electronic devices including his computer after confessing to federal agents that he did try to purchase the DVDs, according to officials.

A news release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that federal agents did find “a substantial collection of graphic child pornography images and videos.” On Thursday December 13, Locke was sentenced by a federal judge to 10 years in prison. News sources also claim Judge Paul Maloney ordered that Locke will be under supervision for the remainder of his life after his release from prison.

The case was brought against Locke as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to prevent child abuse and exploitation. In addition to being under supervision for the rest of his life, Locke will be required to register as a sex offender.

Michigan sex crime lawyers understand that many people are indeed guilty of the offenses they are accused of; however, there are many innocent people who are accused of and charged with crimes they did not commit. While having to spend years of your life in jail or prison is certainly punishment no one wants to face, being labeled as a sex offender for the rest of your life is perhaps even worse. The stigma that individuals are subject to as sex offenders is indescribable; securing employment, housing, student loans and other aspects of living a normal life that most of us take for granted are nearly impossible for registered sex offenders.

Those who have been accused of possessing child pornographic materials, sexual assault, or any sex-related offense should consult with an aggressive Michigan sex crime defense attorney right away.
