Evart news reports that an Evart High School principal has been charged with criminal sexual conduct.
According to reports, Principal Alan R. Kullman was arraigned in court last week, and has been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the first degree. He is accused of having sex with a student between the ages of 13 and 16.
Michigan sex crimes are serious matters. If you are under investigation for or have been charged with any Michigan sex crime, it is critical to consult with a Michigan criminal sexual conduct defense attorney right away.
Michigan criminal sexual conduct is divided into four degrees. Kullman has been charged with first-degree csc – the most serious.
Michigan law section 750.520b Criminal sexual conduct in the first degree felony, provides:
(1) A person is guilty of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree if the person engages in sexual contact with another person and if any of the following circumstances exists:
(b) That other person is at least 13 but less than 16 years of age and any of the following:
(iv) The actor is a teacher, substitute teacher, or administrator of the public school, nonpublic school, school district, or intermediate school district in which that other person is enrolled.
If convicted, Kullman faces life imprisonment, mandatory registration on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry and mandatory STD testing.
It is unknown just what evidence prosecutors have against Kullman.
Unfortunately, accusations of csc can significantly damage a person’s reputation. In Michigan, all the law requires is that someone make an allegation. Those allegations are often turned over to law enforcement officers who are taught to believe that all allegations are probably true. Finding the true motivation for making the accusation of sexual misconduct is one of the most important components of a successful defense.
While the facts and circumstances of this case are unknown, in any Michigan sex crime case it is important to immediately fight back to protect your reputation and your future.
