Former Kalamazoo School Security Guard Pleads Guilty to Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct Involving Student

In August of this year, 21-year-old Anthony Demar Williams was charged with third-degree CSC after a 17-year-old female student became pregnant, bringing to light the alleged sexual misconduct. Williams was employed as a security guard at Loy Norrix High School, where the alleged victim attended school. 05857744.jpg

According to a news article at, Williams’ personnel file indicated he was absent from work on family leave for a period of about 3 weeks in February and March. Williams’ wife was gone from their Kalamazoo Township apartment, which is when Williams allegedly invited the student over. The girl claims that during the visit to Williams’ apartment, she was forced into sex.

Williams pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct on Monday, September 23, the day he was scheduled to appear in Kalamazoo County District Court for his preliminary exam. Williams is scheduled for sentencing on November 18; at this time, the prosecutor’s office will determine a sentencing recommendation in exchange for Williams’ plea.

The victim told a social worker during the summer months that she was pregnant. It was not until this time that the assault came to light. After the victim made the allegations to the social worker, police began an investigation into the accusations due to the fact that in Michigan, it is illegal for an employee of a school to engage in sexual relationships with students younger than 18 within the district. Williams was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.

Being accused of sexual assault is not to be taken lightly in the state of Michigan. If Williams had been convicted by a jury of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, he would have faced up to 15 years in prison. While no sentencing recommendation has yet been made by prosecutors in the case, it is likely Williams’ sentence will be far less severe, as prosecutors typically offer a reduced sentence when a defendant pleads guilty.
